Клиентская программа поисковика FAROO, работающего по принципу пиринговых (децентрализованных) сетей. FAROO не задействует поисковых агентов (краулеров) и не индексирует страницы. Вместо этого используются данные от пиринговой сети пользователей.

Рейтинги интернет-страниц устанавливаются в соответствии со статистикой заходов на сайты. Рейтингование происходит с помощью алгоритма PeerRank. Привлекательной особенностью системы является то, что половину доходов от рекламы Faroo планирует предоставлять своим пользователям. Это логично, так как пользователи, по сути, являются для Faroo заменой настоящего поискового движка.

Тем не менее, система Faroo не лишена и своих недостатков. Если у Faroo не будет достаточной пользовательской базы, то результаты поиска окажутся плачевными. Это как раз тот случай, когда популярность является важнейшей составляющей ценности сервиса. Кроме того, пользование пиринговыми технологиями зачастую ставит под угрозу безопасность компьютера. С одной стороны пирингу не страшен взлом центрального сервера, но с другой, он связан с большей открытостью внутренних данных пользовательского компьютера.

Еще одним преимуществом пиринга является "демократичность" и свобода в предоставлении информации. Но рейтинги Faroo будут создаваться как следствие поиска на других системах (например, Google).
